2009 Summer Camp Held

The 2009 Sakidokwan Summer Camp was held September 11-13 on the Oregon coast. Martial artists from Oregon, Colorado, and Wyoming made the trek to Newport to rekindle friendships and practice Taekwondo and Hapkido in the sun and sand.

Congratulations to those who tested and were promoted during camp including Shelley, Emmey, Shane, and Dwayne.

Speedy recovery to Shelley for her injured knee.

We look forward to the 2010 camp to be hosted by Robert Krienbrink in the wonderful State of Colorado,

Drew Morgan Promoted to 1st Dan

June 4th, 2008

Congratulations to Drew Morgan who successfully completed his 1st Dan test on May 31, 2008. Drew demonstrated excellent single hand techniques, pressure points, and defense using a rope. Previously Mr. Morgan also demonstrated 2:1 defenses with clear balance and strong technique.

Drew has been studying Sakidokwan Hapkido since 2001, and has previous experience from the University of Indiana. Mr. Morgan will soon be relocating to Cleveland Ohio so if in the area look him up to have a great workout.

Brian Peterson Promoted to 1st Dan

Congratulations to Brian Peterson for his successful black belt demonstration on April 4th, 2008. Brian demonstrated strong technique using pressure points, empty hands and tan-bong. Sparring and a self-defense Round Robin rounded out the test with an excellent sacrifice throw at the end.

Brian has been studying Sakidokwan Hapkido since 2002 and shows clear understanding of the system, concepts and techniques.

Instructor Promotion

July 5th, 2007

Over the July 4th holiday, Springfield instructor David Barbero was promoted in Heuk Choo Kwan Hap Ki Do. Now 2nd Dan Black Belt, Mr. Barbero is a fully certified instructor of this style of Hap Ki Do. Mr. Barbero tested under the HCK founder, Grandmaster Ron Suggs, 9th Dan.

Students should be aware that over the next 6 months, the Heuk Choo Kwan curriculum will be included with the Saki Do Kwan to offer a fully integrated system. There will also be enhanced training opportunities for those interested students with the school in Vancouver WA and with GM Suggs himself in Kelso/Longview.

Those interested in HCK patches and t-shirts should let your instructor know.

June Test Results

Congratulations to James Long and Robert Hall on their successful testing for 5th Gup. Both demonstrated a deep understanding of the required manterial and an impressive level of skill in demonstrating the techniques.
