Good Training Habits by Robert Kreinbrink, I Dan
Sometimes it is easy to forget our own journey while following the path of
our instructors. We saw them block and wanted only to be able to block as
they did. We saw them kick and thought, I can do that! Or Watch this! only
to fail miserably. What we had imagined in our minds was not that which was
real, but instead a dream. Imagining that some day we would become that martial
artist. We did not see all the hard work and training they each endured while
conditioning themselves to be able to perform those amazing feats. We saw
only the amazing feats.
Now having attained a higher level in what we sought, so desperately, we see
others looking to us as we once looked to our instructors and we know what
it is that they seek. We know why they have come to our class. And we know
that the most amazing thing that our instructor did was show up for class each
day taking the time to give us good training habits. In reality we see that
our instructor gave us what we sought.
