Working out every possible minute

In our busy lives, it can be difficult to find time to work out. Here are some ways I've tried to improve my skills during my downtime.

  • Shovel snow / rake the yard in a walking stance
  • Brush teeth in a horse stance
  • Stretch while watching TV
  • See how many pushups or situps during a commercial break
  • Perform forms during commercial breaks
  • Perform a backfist or front snap kick everytime the scene on the TV changes.
  • If you have time to think about martial arts (at a stop light or if you cannot sleep), practice a form or combination in your mind.
  • Chase your dog(or grab their bone & evade) using footwork & positioning.
  • Play "Kato" with your kids or brother. Attack each other by surprise, sort of like in the old the Pink Panther movies (Avoid throwing each other out windows, though!)
  • Use your foot for things you would normally use your hand for - opening & closing doors, moving items on the floor, even flipping on the lightswitch!
  • Play hacky sack! It builds foot-eye coordination.

Send your workout tips (however strange) to make this an ever growing list.
(By the way, I really don't watch THAT much television.)
