5th Dan Black Belt Testing Held

Page Gunderson and Willie Cederburg successfully tested for 5th Dans Black Belt on August the 12th. Present were Grandmaster Joseph E. Petty, Master Brian Kuamo, Donna Kaumo 3rd Dan, Jerry Aurther 2nd Dan, Mr. Jim Fosset 1 Dan and Darrin Ward 1 Dan. Congratulations!

2009 Summer Camp. Newport Oregon. September 11-13.

The 2009 Summer Camp will be in Newport Oregon. Our annual gathering of instructors, students, friends and family. Please make plans to join us on the Pacific coast.

Camp will include forms instruction, sparring and self-defense, kumdo tournament, tatami cutting, and more.

Cost for camp is $55/person. Fee includes beach house rental. Food and beverages are not provided. Checks should be sent to David Barbero.

Sakidokwan Summer Camp 2009 – September 11-13

Summer Camp 2009 – September 11-13
Location – Lincoln City, Oregon (address to be determined)

The 2009 Sakidokwan Summer Camp is scheduled for September 11-13 in Lincoln City Oregon. Master Barbero will host this year’s camp on the Oregon coast. Participants can fly into Portland, Salem, or Eugene.

Master Barbero will be renting a house either on the beach or close to it. Final address will depend on the number of pre-registrations. Currently, options include houses that can hold 12-20 guests, and a couple that can sleep 20+.

Pre-register by sending an email to Master Barbero by February 20. Include the number attending from your school. If attendees are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must also attend. Cost information will be based on the number of pre-registrations and will include the rental house only.

Food and transportation will be extra. Come and join us for some fun playing in the sand.

Sheridan, Colorado SakiDoKwan Taekwondo Tournament

The Sheridan, Colorado SakiDoKwan Taekwondo school recently held a tournament for local students and affiliates.

According to Instructor Robert Kreinbrink II Dan, 27 people attended the event this year. At least 8 were Sheridan residents and 2 spectators were new students starting class the following week.

Springfield, Oregon Black Belt Test: Drew Morgan Promoted to 1st Dan

Congratulations to Drew Morgan who successfully completed his 1st Dan test on May 31, 2008 in Springfield, Oregon. According to Master Barbero, Drew demonstrated excellent single hand techniques, pressure points, and defense using a rope. Previously Mr. Morgan also demonstrated 2:1 defenses with clear balance and strong technique.

Drew has been studying Sakidokwan Hapkido since 2001, and has previous experience from the University of Indiana. Mr. Morgan will soon be relocating to Cleveland Ohio so if in the area look him up to have a great workout.

This latest test follows Mr. Brian Peterson’s successful black belt demonstration on April 4th, 2008. Brian demonstrated strong technique using pressure points, empty hands and tan-bong. Sparring and a self-defense Round Robin rounded out the test with an excellent sacrifice throw at the end.

Brian has been studying Sakidokwan Hapkido since 2002 and shows clear understanding of the system, concepts and techniques.

2007 SakiDoKwan Summer Camp Dates Announced

Summer camp 2007 will be held August 10-12, 2007. Feel free to call 304 863 9131 with any questions, or email Master Hartshorn. There is no fee for camp, as it will be held Mr. Taylor’s property. Camp attendees will need to provide their own food. There is no running water, but there is a 210 gallon tank. Sleeping will be in tents, and there is a small cabin that sleeps 8.

Summer Camp 2007

Master Hartshorn and Mr. Taylor are hosting the 2007 SakiDoKwan Summer Camp in West Virginia. There will be plenty of space for campers and tents, as well as a cabin that sleeps eight. The date is yet to be announced, but will probably be the first week of August. More information coming in the next few months.
